The life, health and safety of people,
and the respect for the environment are the highest priority
for TRANSIERRA. This working philosophy was applied since
the GASYRG construction phase and now during its operation
its consolidated as an integral parte of our business
management, which together with our quality management,
brings us closer to reach our excellence vision.
TRANSIERRA currently performs its
activities based upon an Integrated Management System,
certified under the international norms of Quality: ISO
9001; Health and Safety: OHSAS 18001; Environmental
Management: ISO 14001 and Social Accountability: SA 8000.
In this sense, all the company’s
processes and activities have been implemented identifying
and evaluating the associated risks and impacts for every
activity. That’s how TRANSIERRA fulfills its operation with
the most demanding Quality, Health, Safety, Environmental
and Social Accountability norms, constantly seeking the
Continual Improvement and guaranteeing the fulfillment of
current legislation.
As part of its compromise with the
Environment, Transierra has implemented - and successfully
concluded on March 2004 – an ambitious Reforestation Program.
It had an intense social connotation, involving indigenous
people, communities and local governments around the areas;
which participated in the seed recollection, seed growing
and planting them at the Right of Way. Environmentally
sensible areas were prioritized, continuing with the rest of
the Right of Way in all its extension. Some key numbers in
the Reforestation Program participation are 113 people
during the seed recollection phase, 35 growing sites at
local communities, 140 people from 13 communities
neighboring the RoW during the plantation, totaling around
309 thousand plants from 30 different forestall local
species
Transierra is strictly following-up the
Row Reforestation process, performing annual measurements,
forestry and re-plantation in order to consolidate those
areas with less success according to the annual measurements.
In this sense, on 2005 16 thousand new trees were planted;
on 2006, 10 thousand; and at the beginning of 2007, 4
thousand; all of them from 15 different species. During the
last two years, intense forestry tasks were performed in
order to increase protection, care and underbush clean-up,
so the already existing plants will have a better
development.
On February 3rd 2007, was the 4th
anniversary for Transierra without loss-time accidents;
including in this statistics the Transierra’s workers as
well as contractor’s workers, both at the office and the
field facilities. This achievement is the result of the
policies implemented through its Integrated Management
System (IMS) under the OHSAS 18001 norm, of the daily effort
of each worker including contractors, of the priority given
to safe work during the activities execution, and of the
concern with workers and society safety, through the
implementation of the SA 8000 norm to the IMS. |
